This sounds just terrific. I freelanced fulltime for a major metropolitian newspaper and always knew if I found a really engaging subject that I would write a full-length book. The subject appeared years later, and I am finishing up the book. I also write short stories, and am e-mailing to ask if you have any suggestions for dealing with those. Do you have a minimum length for submissions? Have you dealt with any short story authors?
No rush, I know you will be busy. It’s completely gratifying to see independent agents jumping into this field. I wish you the best of luck with your company.

  2. Linda,
Congratulations on finishing up your book! That’s the first step in an exciting journey. We would be honored if you considered Telemachus Press as your publisher…and firmly believe that decision will make you very happy also.

We have published many children’s books that are essentially short stories. Our only limitation on length of books is dictated by our printer. For B&W books the minimum number of pages is 18 and for Color books the minimum number of pages is either 4 or 24 depending on the type of binding and dimensions of the books. Of course, eBooks (Kindle, iPad, Nook, etc.) can be of any length.

The biggest limit to publishing your short stories as individual books will be the cost of formatting and publishing. One suggestion is to group your short stories together into collections and publish them that way. Of course, we would be more than happy to also assist you with this process.

Please call me at 941-993-5987 or email me at steve.himes@telemachuspress.com. I will be happy to further discuss options with you.

    Thanks for your inquiry.

    Steve Himes
